Mock Up

Depending on what we had chosen at the beginning of the year we would have to make a mock up site of our static site. I had chosen to do junior football. The previous one of the site was so outdated and was dull. I used a template and multiple tabs about the team, coaches, fans. It looks clean also which is the best part. Also during the week I had to type in all of last years graduates.

Flash

So the last few days we started working with flash. I have learned flash 2 years previously when I had taken grade 10 programming. What we are doing in flash currently is review of what I have learned before. I still follow the lesson and add a bit of touches and more artistically better well waiting for the class. We talked about motion, tweens, the "UNDERGROUND" as Mr.Charelli likes best. After we finish up flash we will use it on our mock up sites.

The Test Part 2

Tuesday we had to write the second part of our two day test. We had to design a website about the government of yukon. We had put images and put parts together and images into html links. I did pretty good but my target did not work which was disappointing. I managed to get 38 out of 45 and I forgot to use a external style sheet. I did better on the second half the test compared to the first half. For homework I finished my table of contents as it was worth 5% of my grade.

The Test Part 1

So on the past monday we had our big HTML test. I studied, I printed out all the notes and I practiced three times making a website. The first day of the test involved multiple choice and two short answer questions. It was out of 45 for the first half. On the first page the test I made 4 errors on easy questions. I was able to get all the image questions right on the hand. On the several pages after I got easy questions wrong again and got the tough questions correct. Most the multiple choice questions that involved programming I got correct. I did poorly though overall on the multiple choice so I made it up on the short answers where I got 14/14. Sir if you read this I wish there was more short answer questions.

2nd Practice Test

We are currently working on our 2nd practice test. We have our biggest test coming up next monday and tuesday. It is a two day test first part written second part done on the computer.

Style Sheets

So monday I took school of due to have the cold. I came back tuesday to learn about stylesheets. Stylesheets are used in everyday webpages and are taking over tables, cells. They are much easier to use for posistioning, 3-D effects and changing colour of fonts and backgrounds and maniuplating images.

HTML Design Problem

On friday we practiced on making a site with cells and doing style sheets without even knowing it. I finished the design problem on thursday so I just watched Charelli as he was reviewing it. We worked with gifs, making images to htmls, and merging pages to left and right side. After that I had a busy weekend ahead. My saturday was spent waking up at 6am to get ready for championship weekend for racing at Camerons Speedway. Lets say that it was a crazy day I wish I had a head camera to show everyone the races as it was crazy. My first practice not even the first lap due to the rain I crashed into the tires but after that I caught on fire for the races. After the first half of the championship I was tied for 2nd and only 5 points behind 1st. Then disaster hit in the second session it started pouring rain for our race I was starting 3rd and the two people starting ahead of me I had to beat. After the first couple laps disater hit I got hit from behind and went flying into the grass. I managed to catch back up and finish 5th for that race but I had pull a hare out of hat to catch up in points. Due to the Y108 event and nunmber of races showing up and people leaving that there be one last race with 10 laps on the 2km track. I started second last for this races and lets just say it was crazy you could hear over the pa system of how I got to the front so quick in the first two laps and how #88 the kart I was in was hitting people which I wasn't. I ended up finishing third in this race and it was crazy.

Web Design Class

Alright so we were assigned an assignment on thursday that is due on wednesday. The task of the assignment is to upload to the internet. This will be our first time uploading to an internet domain. I stole a template of the internet and used it as my template for all of my pages. This assignment is to talk a bit aboutselves like things about ourselves such as sports, education, etc. After finishing all the information I needed I registered for a site at 1 2 3 my host. After uploading it turned out alright. After the weekend I came back and my site was deleted so I registered to a new site called bytehost. Now it works.

Internet

So today we learned how to steal templates off the internet. The templates on the internet look 100x more better then mine I made the day before. After spending time stealing templates off the internet and using them we have to start a project about ourselves and upload it up to the internet.

Thanklates

So we just had our long thanksgiving weekend. I worked all 3 days. Saturday was nice day well sunday and monday were cold ones. Due to work my thanksgiving dinner consisted of subway, chicken parmigiana, spaghetti and bread. On the flip side we learned how to design our own templates and how to utilize them. I got confused a couple times then I finally understood how templates worked.

Web Design

On friday october 2nd we did more tables. Inserting tables on a web page using layout mode. We then got our shark assignments marked. I got 20 out of 20 on the assignment which slightly brought my mark up by 1 percent. After that we had free time i spent my time studying for my health test that was next period. After that I signed out to help my mom move into our new house. On monday we did advanced graphics. We worked with creating animated gif's by using animation shop. I already knew how to do it since I previously had done it in grade 10,11 programming. Then we created/edited images using dreamweaver. If you go to layout or something along those lines theres a link that takes you to adobe fireworks where you can go edit the image and bring it in. Then we inserted flash text/buttons. Its not like the real flash but it works like flash.

mONDAY 21 n On

We took a closer look at text and graphics today. We took a look at text sources like adobe pdf writer, image sources such as the scanner and how to manipulate the object using paint shop pro and saving them into either jpgs, gifs. We also learned today how to manipulate backgrounds and modifying the background color or image.

Looks like programming class is starting to pick up. Today we learned something new for multi-dimensional arrays. All this week we been working with arrays. From 1D arrays to 2-D arrays even 3-d arrays. We reviewed things like how to read in all the data for 2-D and 1-D arrays, change a particular mark, change all the numbers, check the range, find the largest number and total of numbers. To increase and decrease marks and find averages. This also involves reading in IO Files.

Ralph and I need to make a program using a control we have never ever seend before such as using the tab control, progress bar, and web browser. Ralph and I chose to use tab control. Now I'm reviewing for the test next week hoping I do well. I also had my cisco test today and I know I'll do well

Array Test

Today we had an array test lets just say having no computer or internet home i was completely not ready for the task at hand. I understood most of the questions. The fire drill ruined my flow I was getting into. I tried to prepare for this test by printing out notes and that. Do to the way I write I'm slow hand writer so I was unbale to finish the 1st page I had gotten to the last one on it but was unable to finish the test in the time that was needed. i hope I did well

Today we started working with dreamweaver. It is so much easier then 1st Page. All the dirty coding was done for you inbehind the program. It was much easier. I think the hardiest part of the lesson was when the computers were crashing. Right now we have to work on a shark assignment. Charelli showed us things like how to set up
tables ,adding a page, merging cells, making links,etc. We have test next week for dreamweaver

Presenting

Last week we learned how to use fireworks and Charelli made us start a project that we need to do something to a picture that he didn't teach us. Through
thursday to monday was work periods. On wednesday we showed our graphic tricks
today we started dreamweaver to the whole class. My came out really well I use the pen tool and how to manuiplate with vectors

Critique

In website design this first part of the week we've been looking at websites and the design of them. Mike and I decided to team up and each do a site each. One of us had to choose the Brebeuf site well on the other hand someone has to critiqe a different site. I chose to critique the brebeuf site. I wrote about 3 paragraphs talking about the site like the credibility of the site, information, is it bias, and the website design of the site. Mike chose to write about cathedrial. I managed to finish the critique and handed it in. We will be getting the marks back shortly as Charelli is fast marker.

2nd Week 2nd Blog

This is my 2nd blog this second week of school. I'm going to start off talking about web design. Today we learned about html. We were going to work with this one program but it didn't work but at the end of class we found away around it and we'll be using it in the next few days so we worked with Adobe Dreamweaver

. This command makes it move a line down. We learned the general commands, the 6 different headings h1 to h6 also Physical Commands and inserting bulletts and images.

Today in programming we did a review on probably one of my better things in programming which is flow charts. Dom calls me the chart master because I always do the charts in group projects. A flow chart is way to organize your ideas and put them on paper kind of. It shows the general outlay of the program. We also talked about Methods today. We were re capping so much. I believe I understand methods better this time along compared to last time when we were working on them.

2nd Week

This is the second week of school and this is my 3rd post within the last two weeks. On Monday we did review of selection reptitions and else if statements. We were shown programs and given problems to do and complete them and submit them in the drop box. I finished them in class with Dom but I had problems with local varients. Since I do not have a computer or internet at my grandpa's house I have to rush and finish it in class asap. Today we did a recap of Oriented Program more known as OOP.


Website Design!!

In website design we handed in our charts for the school website. Dom and I got perfect on it what a way to start the class even though its just the beginning. I also got my mark back from the gant chart quiz and I got perfect. Right now we were assigned a group project to target an audiance and follow the steps needed to comeplete it like doing the charts and feasabilty. Dom and I are partners for it once again.

Second Blog

This is my 2nd blog for the week. In programming I'm starting to follow the online course a bit better. Ralph and I share a screen so we can watch and program at the same time while Mr. Charelli is teaching. Currently we are re capping things from which we learned in grade 11 to refresh our minds on c sharp. Such as doing math formulas and adding refrences like visual basic so you steal an input box from visual basic. On Thursday we talked about scroll bars and go numeric up and down. We also did a recap on things such as multiple forms and putting in a menu strip and entering and outputting data using strings. Today we had our first quiz for programming it was similar to last years test. We had to fill in the blanks and just make a radio gui looking no programming involved. I believe I did well in it. After the test we did a recap of mathmatical applications ike converting to int.32 or int.parse

Part 2.

Part 2 is about web design. The last few days we took some notes and case studies and did a lesson on gant charts but my program would not work on my computer so I couldn't practice it which was a disappointment (>_<). The next day we had a quiz for gant charts and Mr. Charelli gave me a quick lesson about the program and I managed to ace the quiz with a perfect. He then showed us smart draw and amd smart ideas. Dom and I failed hard with smartdraw so we went to smart ideas afterwards and everything looked cleaner and better. Were handing the chart in on monday so I'll post then.

1st Day of School

Today was the first day of school. I woke up early for once. I haven't woken up at 7 since driving school in the summer. My first class of day was programming. In programming we tryed setting up our all of our accounts and logging in online for the class. The class is being taught / broadcasted online to other students at different schoolboards. It's pretty cool. The repeating / echoing voice is kind of annoying though if you take the headset off because of the delay you hear everything twice. It's like when I play xbox when I hear myself talk. Mr.Charelli introduced us all the websites we should visit and how we have to Zip games and hand them in over online.

Ring... Ring.... there goes the bell and I'm in Mr. Charelli's class again for Web Design. The first month is suppose to be boring where we work in groups to complete tasks. Mr. Charelli introduced us to blog sites and his website where we can find test hints which are somewhat similar to the tests accordingly. We going be learning how to do templetes and designs and that later on in the course.

Dice Roller Assignment

Today and tomarrow we are starting to work on this assignment. We have to make a program that will model the rolling of two dice which will simulate 1000 times that will produce a frequency of ocurences either on a horizontal or vertical bar graph. He taught us and showed us an example of how to work on the graph and learned about the coding on changing the colours for each bar how to make them wider, smaller, thicker, etc. This assignment is due monday.

Random Numbers Test

We had a test on our first day back after the long Easter weekend. The test we were doing was for random bumbers and would be the last test of the year. Some of the questions on the test were really easy but I somehow managed to get them wrong even though I understood. There was a bonus question on the test but I didn't know how to do it. After the test, Mr. Chiarelli taught us about a new unit called graphics. This was a making different shapes, colours, fonts to appear on the screen. Mr. Chiarelli just showed us some of the basic coding.

Random Numbers

Last week we learned more about random numbers. Mr.Charelli had a bunch of examoles to show us, one of the examples he showed us was like a casino game. The point of this game is to pay money to roll dice. If you wanted to continue, you would have to pay more money for your second game. The point of the program was to show the average winnings of the person. . For the rest of the period, Mr. Chiarelli gave us time to review or have free time. Ralph & I decided to finish up on the program he was teaching us so that I could do good on the test.

Shooter

Last week, Mr. Chiarelli taught us a bunch of new concepts about random numbers. The reason for this was because we were going to be having a test the next week on it. This is going to be our last test. He said that for every question we would have to do a double loop. He also showed us how to make a one line statement that would find different numbers. All we had to do was type in r.Next and make sure it right or else we would get it wrong. He showed us the shooting gallery game. The shooting gallery problem was basically about gun that shoots different plates in the sky. The problem was that we had to make a program that would calculate the different posible possibilities of the gun hitting the plate. Mr. Chiarelli gave us about 30 minutes to try to finish it where afterwards he took it up.

Bubble

Today we talked about the bubble sort. The bubble sort is when you have a mixed up numbers or letters that are mixed up in any order. Using the bubble sort it puts the numbers or letters in the correct order either from largest to smallest or smallest to greatest. It keeps going through a for loop until it has been sorted into the right. The bubble sort doesn't know how to stop unless you add a flag to it. There is multiple ways to do the bubble sort. If you have 3 or less you can do arrays which have a bunch of if statements. This takes longer to do. Than there's the bubble sort which takes less lines and is quicker. Today we also got our quiz review for Monday. Mr.Charelli showed us what we need to do to get the marks we need for the test.

Arrays

On monday we had to hand in our group project. We had finished at the end of the period. We got it back the next day and got 114/120. We lost marks because we had forgotten to put comments. On Tuesday we had a test on strings. I had study notes and that but lets just say I totally bombed it. My mark went down %4 which sucks. For the next test or assignment I expect it to back. We took up the test today and when we took it up I could tell my answer was no where near the right answer. Also on Monday we were taught arrays. We also learned about more arrays today.

Strings

The day before Mr.Charelli goes to Lourdes we learned about strings. I knew a bit about strings from VB but it is quite different in C Sharp. We did a program for volume of an object. It was done quite differently. We had to replace many things and add new things and do calls which is pretty cool

OOP's

On Thursday we learned about OOP's. OOP's mean Object Oriented Programming. Object Oriented programming is what they use now in University's and that for programming. You learned about different types of definitions like class, fields, properties, methods, constructers, etc. The first example we did was called the Box. Mr.Charelli showed us how to do it. I was able to do without making any mistakes which was good. For homework we had to watch a video and find the definitions. We took up the definitions the next day.

Progress Reports

We got our progress reports and I'm doing pretty good I have to say compared to grade 10 TIK 201 where we had worked with visual basic. My grades are hovering around 80% which is good. Surprisinly this is one of my lowest marks in all my subjects I currently have besides my religion mark. My religion mark is around 70 and when I got progress report for religion my marks where in the shape of a parabla. My english mark is in the 90's but that's because we've only done 4 assignments and tech design I have a 86.

Group Project

Ralph and I are group partners for our group assignment. Ralph and I have been partners for group projects before. I guess I got to say we are a good duo. For our assignment we have to create a BMI program. BMI stands for Body Mass Index. We our halfway finished our project. I have already finished theflow charts which approxitemently took me a class and a half cause I kept making easy mistakes that Ralph pointed out to me. We have 3 buttons on our program and tabs at the top to show if you need any help or that.

Repition/Flow

Today we had a repetition test. On the first part I know I did very well on the multiple choice. When we got the tests back I did do very well on the multiple choice. For the programming part of the test I myself thought I did very well. I was unable to finish #5. If I had 5 more minutes I think I could of finished it. When I got the test back I was surprised I did so well. This brought my mark back up into the 80's. Thursday we learned about flow charts. This was a review to me but I struggled to remember what each did. We than got a pop quiz because of few kids in the class who kept talking. I did miserably bad on this. I was disappointed because my mark would go down because of people not able to act proper in class .

Comboboxs/Review

On Monday we got a look at what combo boxes and list boxes do. On Tuesday we actually go to see what they actually do and how to program for them. Combo boxes on C# are easier than visual basic. To Input on the choices of the combo box you just go to properties and add it in or just do Item.Add to the combo box. On Tuesday Emil, Ralph and me studied for the test on Wednesday. We came up with a quite a bit of errors but Emil figured out what was wrong. It was a simple mistake doing with 0's.

Group Project

On Friday we got our group assignments. My partner for the assignments was Ralph. Ralph and I were partner's last year and had good chemistry and we wish to continue that. For the group project our assignment was to make a program to calculate the average heights of people between the ages 13 to 18 and arrange them in the right order. We had a couple errors already in ours. The errors we were missing were if statements. Mr.Charelli showed us our mistake when he took a look at the program. On Monday we were given more time to finish our project. Ralph and I were stumped on how to make this little space in between the title and display numbers. I figured it out near the end class and we were able to finish our project.

Wednesday 18

On Wednesday the 18th we learned about repetitive processing. Reptitive processing is the theory of using loops and asking the same questions for an infinite amount of time til the user who is using the program wants to stop. We learned user controlled reptition which was new. It's for loops for you have to do while (true) before you can start the programming inside of the loop. The next thing we did was for loops. For loops are usually used for math problems when trying to do math and that. An example of for loops looks like this: for (x=1; y=2) etc. We than looked at a sample application called RepApps(uses inputbox run from c#. The program did area of a circle. We learned this new thing called Environment.NewLine instead of using the typical \n.
We also took a look at sum(for) and combo(for).

Week 3

Today we did some review of what we learned on the last friday. On Friday we learned how to use Simple Dialog, Messageboxes, Global commands practically. Today we reviewed this and had to solve a problem. While doing the program I ran into a difficuilty on the second part of it trying to figure out how to dl the programming part for the other textboxes. The example was patients information. I asked help from one of my friends in the class and he showed me what I was doing wrong.

Later Week 2

On Wednesday we started to learn selective repetition. We had used selective repetition in the past in VB so I found this part very easy. There is a couple differences between VB and C#. For C# you have too do == or && to make something equal or OR. Mr.Charelli than showed us a quiz and the program behind it. It had else if statements and repition. As a class we got all 5 right. We than had to work on questions 1-3 this day. I finished all 3 of them. For #2 I did it a longer way. When Mr.Charelli did it was like 4x shorter than mine so I used his example and it worked out the same. On Thursday he showed us how to do #4. After that we had to finish up to #6 and attempt 7. I just finished 6 when class ended.Tomarrow were going to be doing sample applications.

Week 2

On Monday, we had a work period to practice for the test. I was able to complete the handout and I made another one but different. The one we had to do was for cassettes, Cd's, music players and get the total cost. On Tuesday we got out first test. It was similar to the one from grade 10 visual basic. For the multiple choice part I happened to get 6 out of the 8 right. For the 2nd part we had to make a pizza program. I had some difficulties doing it. Some bad luck, things I didn't know and other stuff. I did bad on this part. My mark dropped from this test so I need to step my game up for the next one which is going to be written from our seats.

Later of Week 1

On Thursday we started doing math problems. Mr.Charelli showed us how to steal an Inputbox from visual basic and commands from Visual Basic. We used the inputbox to ask question and where they could put the number in. Some the math applications were review. We took up some arithmetic problems ex: 2*3+7. We learned new codes for C# like Convert.32 or Parse. Also the program wouldn't work if you bring visual basic inless you save it to the C drive. On friday we looked at the code of a car company and the code behind it to get the answers of the total. We than got time to do work period.

Week 1

This is the first week of semester 2. On our first day we got our dayplans started our first thing with C Sharp ++. On our first day we just learned the basics ex: Labels, Buttons, Etc. On Monday we grabbed handouts which one of them shows all the prefixs you need when naming. On Wednesday we had a quiz. I did bad on the first part. I didn't realize obvious things that i even knew from TIK last semester. The second part of the quiz was good for me. I could of got perfect on the 2nd half but i was one second to late from clicking the image.
