Group Project

So on Friday we got a work period to work on group assignment. My partner for the group assignment is Ralph. Our problem is a case. We are given bones with certain formulas. Over the week we've been running into problems until i came up with an idea but once again my idea was flawwed because it was more complicated and Mr. Chiarelli gave us the idea to put everything into one form. We started over again now were on track with out project.

Call Ups

On Wednesday in class we learned about this thing called call ups. When writing a program instead of repeating the same thing and typing over and over again you do a call up. A call up allows you to use one line w/o having to do more than one extra line. Call-ups are useful in songs, math, etc. Also on thursday sir showed us that whatever we write in notepad we can import into vb by making a new command. This is useful when you are doing calcualtions.

Flow Chart

I was away on Monday so I missed the lesson on flow charts. On the following Tuesday Mr.Chiarelli taught us the difference between event and general procedures. He showed us one of his demos and he showed us how to make the program work. After we had finish doing the demo we copied out the program. After that we had to complete a flow chart on which we drew from the board when we were discussing one of the problems. I was able to finish the flow chart but I had a hard time finding the diamond shapes.

Review

Today in class we were working on our reviews. We did this for the whole period. I managed to finish the first half of the review. Today we also got our group projects back. Ralph and I got 28 out of 30. We just made one mistake in trying to dummy-proofing our project. The mistake was the age if it was less than 12 or more than 18. We have a test tomorrow hopefully I do good.

Combo Box

Today Mr. Chiarelli taught us how to use combo box's and how they work. He showed us the combo boxes can be very useful when trying to dummy-proof a program. A point of using a combo box is so people don't mess up the program you just give them options. Combo boxes are useful because you can also give multiple options. Today we had some time to finish our projects. We just finished doing the finishing touches on our project. We have a review for tomorrow and a test on Friday.

Group Project

On Monday, Mr. Chiarelli showed us our group assignment. He explained it in detail the week before on Friday. We didn't get to start Friday because there was a buyout for the football game so we had a half day. On Monday, we started the project. Ralph Hipolito was my partner. We looked at the example that was shown on the board and we took the note down and applied it to our project. The was on main question but there were two bonus questions but we didn't attempt them. After the first day we printed out what we had done. On Tuesday we showed him our copy so far and he pointed are mistakes. We made basic mistakes like forgetting how to use val. We were able to finish the project at the end of class.

Repetitive Process

On Monday, Mr, Chiarelli was teaching us the concept of repetitive processing. This also known as looping. The point of looping is to repeat the same thing over and over again inless you exit or say no. The first thing you do is write a do statement. Once you do this you type what you want to appear when running the button. Using loop is very useful because you never have to start over and over again to do something.

Mathmetical Apps

On monday we started to do arithmetic operators. We learned how to do problems in visual basic by using val for equations. It was confusing first. Over the week I gradually started to understand this better. You'd use val have a question pop up ex: Click the button than it'll ask What's your average. If it was in between a certain number it'll tell you/calculate your percentage. Also on monday and tuesday we began to do some math problems and go to work on our family projects

Thursaday 23

Today we learned different data types, option explicit and declaring data types. Scope of variables. You need to change static to dim to emphasize cmd then add new dim into a separate part. You can add module by going to top project and add module.

Basics Writing Code

On Tuesday we had a supply teacher and had time to work on our family project. I did not know what to do as I was away for the last 2 days. On Wednesday, we were introduced to basic procedures. Types of events, creating event procedures for forms, objects, pull down menus. Also we learned entering and outputting data using variables, naming conventions, assignment statements, numeric, modifying properties of object. We also learned how to add forms. Which we can show or hide.

Scroll Bars and Menu

On Thursday the 16th, we were being taught and learned how to create vertical and horizontal scroll bars. Also setting up min. and max value properties. With the scroll bar we learned to change the scroll procedures and change the enable property of the text box. On the friday we had a work period but I missed that day. On Monday I was sick from a bad allergic reaction and caught a fever. On Wednesday Mr.Chiarelli taught me what I missed and showed how you can make a background by just going to your main form and scroll down to picture. You must make sure the file is wmf which you can do by converting from microsoft paint shop.

14/15

On tuesday 14th we had a quiz. Matt is gay. The first part of the quiz was hard because I couldn't find it in my notes even thoughmy notes were organized. For the 2nd of the quiz we had to do a title screen for the school tuck shop with visual basic. I programmed the button to end. Made 2 labels than had find 4 pcitures from the J drive. The four pictures were a book, folder, pencil and a ruler. I know i did good good on this part because I finished it. On the 15th Mr.Chairelli taught us how to add scroll bars and radio buttons.

Thursday

While today when I got to class we had a free period to work on our family project. I worked on my buttons and worked on the codes. I got all the codes to work on every button. I was able to get all the scenes going. I added some pictures and finished my project at the end of the class. I also worked on my blogs and that's about it. I'll post more later

Wednesday

While on wednesday we got a quiz. The first part of the quiz was about the 5 key steps for creating a visual basic. A multiple choice question. How to attach a code. Also find what was wrong with a statement. For the 2nd part of the quiz we had to create an application for Microsoft visual basic to show what class and teacher we have for that period. I made my buttons first on the right hand side. I put label for class and teacher. I put text for class and teacher. I than programmed the buttons to say what teacher and class I have. Ex: Period Click. Class: Math, Teacher: Mr. Bozzo.

On Tuesday

On tuesday we once again worked on our family project. While I was working I was able to finish every person's details and formatted page to organize it. I put my flags and buttons on the left side. I put the title of each page on top. I finished all the text for each person and edited the text. Also today Mr. Chiarelli taught us programming for Visual Basic. For our first visual basic we learned what to do. We had to get the button to say hello. Mr. Chiarelli showed us how to change the background from that to changing text and the caption. He also showed us how to save which is different from when you default save it. Visual Basic is way easier than using flash. I was able to get my button to work.

Mondy Oct 8. 2008

Hey everyone. Last Thursday i wasn't at school and missed a lesson and friday I went to the buyout so I had to catch up. Right now at school were working on a family flash project. For this assignment we have to get buttons to work and talk about our family. Today Mr. Chiarelli showed me how to scan and set up the pictures to be on my H drive. After showing me once I got the hang of scanning photos and being able to save them to the H drive. After I finished scanning I went back to my computer. I was able to finish my introduction and got some buttons working.

Movement

So today we learned a bit of how buttons work. Buttons are pretty cool. With a button you are able to do actions. Like press and stop. Release and go. And many other cool actions. Also we learned how to do motions for objects. We also began to work on making a ball move. I was away these days so I did not know what to do at first but I got some help and figured out. It was pretty cool seeing that you can control how an object moves. We had to do an assignment for Mr. Chiarreli showing the movement. I used a wall as my background and made it look like it was bouncing. I managed to get 10/10 which is I found was awesome!!! In conclusion that's what we did for few days.

Monday - Wed Post

Today is my birthday and we wrote a test about what we had learned in the previous week. The test was kind of hard in some parts. It was pretty easy to because we were able to use our books. On Tuesday, Mr. Chiarelli tought us the basics of flash. How curve objects, move them, colour & layers. On Wednesday we started to learn how to do movements with flash.

Thursday

On Thursday we learned about lan setup and configuration. There's 9 steps you need to install a good stable network. First you need a NIC/Router. Also need a RJ45 connectors, OS activation. Also you have to install the client ex: Windows, Microsoft networks. You must also follow protocols TCP/IP. You also have to select an IP Address. You can also add different numbers for the last 2 on your subnet. We also learned we can use a printer from any computer in your own household if you set it up right. You can also share resources if the other person allows you. We also learned we can ping ourselves in the cmd. Hope you liked my blog. I'll be back later in the week or monday on my birthday

Wha..Wednesday

On Wednesday, we messed around with IP adresses. We were able to take over other people's computer and view there desktop and files. We also were able to have conversions and fooled around with paint. I think that was pretty cool. I went home after and tried it out. It worked! Thxs Mr.Chiarelli for teaching us about it. Also on wednesday we talked about ethernet cables, protocols, software and TCP/IP. Wednesday was a fun class anyways I'll post my next blog in a bit.

We recently wrote our test on monday. On the test we had to answer multiple choice questions and answer some defintions. We got our tests back i had mid 70's. I think I did pretty decent but I had a chance to do better if I looked in certain spots I didn't. After the test we learned a bit about networking and how the school use to use bus topology. If one computer would break all the computers would crash/shut down. Now the school uses Star which is alot more efficent and all the computers have there seperate networks. Analyze of First Week

For the first week of school we started to learn the basic hardware enviornments on a computer. We did a serious questions from handouts we were given. On these handouts we also had to do defintions. When I reasearched these definitions and questions I was able to find out what these products and manufactuering hardware do. From the motherboard, to buses and all sort of computer mechanics. Also in the first week were taught about some computer architecture. Mr.Chiarelli also taught us about the execution cycle. The cycles include 3 things. From Fetching the next instruction, to decoding and third of to execute the instruction. Mr.Chiarelli also talked to us about conmputers how they are so good that they need add microns for the computer to not overheat. We'll tom's wednesday and this is my first blog so
